The role Our career options are as diverse as our people; we all have an important role to play! An exciting new opportunity is now available for a Business Analyst Team Leader within South East Water's Business Technology Services division! Reporting to the Head of Project Delivery and directly leading a team responsible for business analysts, this role also provides indirect leadership and guidance to both internal and external stakeholders.
The incumbent will work tightly in conjunction with other project managers, application team and project sponsors/stakeholders at SE Water to ensure projects achieve their original objectives and to make the best use of applications and software to achieve their business goals.
This role has significant impact (and shared responsibility) on the use of Information Technology applications, business solutions, software and services across the entire organisation.
The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys both the technical, hands-on aspect of a Business Analyst role, along with the challenge of leading a team and building capability.
Who are you? Armed with a degree-level qualification in either IT or Business, you will be an excellent communicator, both in written form (ability to prepare quality technical designs, specifications, user documentation) as well as verbal (ability to present and discuss complex technical information; influence others and gain cooperation).
You will also possess an enviable ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business and beyond, and your ability to lead and uplift your team is second to none.
The following skills, knowledge and experience will also ensure your success in the role: Demonstrated ability to manage Business Analyst staff in an Information Technology field environment.
Experience in project management, including a working knowledge of Agile/Scrum and Waterfall methodologies.
Strong working knowledge of different project and Business Analysis methodologies.
Demonstrated ability in gathering requirements and business analysis, test and defect management.
Project Management – the ability to plan and project manage small to medium sized projects; possess an understanding of project lifecycles and methodology (Waterfall and Agile/Scrum) and manage project budgets.
Experience in developing business and information technology strategies and conducting entity relationship diagramming and modelling.
High-level problem-solving skills, with a proven track record of diagnosing and resolving complex technical problems in the field of software development, and production support of existing commercial and custom applications.
Experience in working with large organisations that support customer, asset or corporate applications.
Experience in estimating both systems development effort (new developments) and change requests/enhancements.
Preparing use-cases and data flow diagrams; business requirements specifications, user stories/acceptance criteria.
