Business Development Manager (BDM) – IT Recruitment Location: Melbourne, Victoria Division: Information Technology Reports To: IT Business Manager Position Purpose: The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for driving new business growth within the IT recruitment sector across Melbourne and the broader VIC, NSW, and QLD markets.
The role focuses on building relationships with key clients in the IT space, identifying new opportunities, and securing recruitment assignments.
This position will be pivotal in laying the foundation for the IT division in Melbourne, with opportunities to build and grow a team around the successful desk.

Key Accountabilities: Business Development: Identify and secure new business opportunities within the IT sector, focusing on both permanent and contract recruitment.
Proactively engage with prospective clients, understanding their hiring needs and offering tailored recruitment solutions.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within IT organisations, including startups, SMEs, and enterprise-level businesses.
Client Relationship Management: Build and manage long-term relationships with clients to understand their ongoing and future recruitment needs.
Serve as the main point of contact for client queries and ensure the delivery of high-quality recruitment services.
Conduct client meetings and presentations to showcase Brunel's IT recruitment capabilities and value propositions.
Market Development: Stay informed about the latest trends and developments within the IT sector, including emerging technologies, market shifts, and hiring trends.
Provide market insights to clients, assisting them in making informed hiring decisions based on current labour market conditions.
Establish Brunel as a key player in the Melbourne IT recruitment market, positioning the brand as a trusted partner for sourcing top IT talent.
Recruitment Support: Work closely with the recruitment delivery team to ensure that client requirements are met in a timely manner.
Collaborate with recruiters to source, screen, and place high-caliber IT professionals across a range of roles, including software development, cloud engineering, cybersecurity, data science, and more.
Revenue Growth: Achieve and exceed revenue targets through a combination of new business development, client retention, and repeat business.
Manage the sales pipeline, forecasting upcoming opportunities, and ensuring a consistent flow of new assignments.
Ensure all commercial agreements and terms are in place with clients, following company standards and compliance guidelines.
Team Building & Leadership: Assist in the development of a team around the IT desk in Melbourne, with the potential to lead and mentor recruitment consultants in the future.
Collaborate with leadership to shape the growth strategy for the IT division in Melbourne, ensuring long-term success and sustainability.
Key Competencies: Sales Acumen: Demonstrated ability to identify and close new business opportunities within a competitive market, particularly in IT recruitment.
Relationship Management: Proven track record of building and maintaining strong, long-term client relationships, with a focus on providing exceptional service.
Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the IT sector, including key roles, emerging technologies, and hiring trends.
Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
Organisational Skills: Effective time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and clients concurrently.
Collaboration: Ability to work closely with recruitment teams and internal stakeholders to deliver client solutions and achieve business goals.
Qualifications and Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in business development, ideally within the IT recruitment sector or related industries.
Proven ability to develop new business and secure long-term client relationships within the IT space.
Strong understanding of IT recruitment, including roles such as software development, infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, data analytics, and project management.
Experience in both permanent and contract recruitment, with a focus on delivering tailored solutions for client needs.
Experience using CRM systems to manage client and candidate data and track business development activities.
Work Conditions: Standard office hours with flexible working arrangements available.
Hybrid work with remote work on Fridays.
Travel within Melbourne and occasionally interstate (VIC, NSW, QLD) for client meetings as required.
Salary: 100,000 – 130,000 base plus superannuation (11%) and commissions.
