As a trusted advisor to the Principal, School Council, colleagues, your team and the broader community, you will have a critical role in future planning, as well as oversight of all day-to-day matters related to robust financial management.
The opportunity: The school requires an accomplished and 'hands-on' finance leader to provide strategic leadership and direction for the school's financial management.
Reporting directly to the Principal and reporting to the School Council, you will partner closely with myriad internal and external stakeholders.
You will be responsible for providing financial and commercial support across the school.
Leading and developing a capable and loyal team, you will be integral in leading financial control, FP&A, commercial, and operations finance, as well as Company Secretarial duties.
Additionally, you will explore data and available information to provide meaningful insights, confident that this will support prudent decision making.
Your key competencies include: Proven ability to operate at an executive level, with professional accountability for both financial and strategic planning.
Risk management mindset and application of risk management technical knowledge.
Effective strategic leadership of the financial function of a complex organisation.
Ability to fully grasp the relevant education legislation, regulations and guidelines with which the school must comply.
Well-developed communication, inter-personal, influencing & stakeholder engagement skills.
The ability to mentor and develop finance team members, fostering a positive culture of continuous learning and growth.
Demonstrated ability to disseminate and communicate important information and directions in ways that make it easy to understand and follow.
About you: To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced senior finance leader with an understanding of strategic and operational practices.
You are CA/CPA qualified, ideally with AICD qualification.
You will have proven experience working in a large complex organisation, (experience in a school environment will be well regarded).
Your strong technical finance skills a given.
You will demonstrate exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with a proven ability to engage with your Executive Leadership Team and School Council.
You take pride in your staff leadership skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement through effective strategies, systems and processes.
You'll also lead the charge in anticipating and future-proofing financial issues, systems and operations in the ever-evolving education landscape.
