About the Role
The Chief Digital and Information Officer (CDIO) at Monash Health plays a critical role in shaping and executing the organisation's Digital Health and Information Strategy. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the CDIO is responsible for the strategic development and implementation of innovative information technologies and the management of data across the organisation. This role encompasses oversight of various functions including Technology Business Services, Business Intelligence, IT Pathology and Clinical Systems, Training and Adoption, IT Project Management, and IT Security, ensuring that digital solutions are effectively integrated into Monash Health's operations.
The CDIO will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to cultivate a digital-focused culture and enhance infrastructure and capabilities across the organisation. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing strategies that align with Monash Health's organisational priorities, driving efficiency improvements, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. The role also involves leading a team of 203 staff, managing a budget of $45 million, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements while delivering digital health initiatives on budget.
The position requires a proactive approach to digital health innovations, a commitment to quality and safety, and effective financial management. Additionally, the CDIO will be expected to foster a positive work environment, model Monash Health's values, and ensure the successful execution of the Digital Health and Information roadmap.
About You
The ideal candidate for the Chief Digital and Information Officer role at Monash Health will be an experienced leader with advanced IT and healthcare qualifications, a proven track record in managing complex digital health projects, and exceptional leadership skills to drive innovative, high-quality technology solutions in health settings.
Core requirements of the position include:
Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or related discipline
Proven success in developing and managing complex health technology solutions.
Expertise in best practices for IT architectures, strategy, systems integration, and service delivery.
Proficient in project management methodologies for digital health projects.
In-depth understanding of IT service needs in acute health settings.
Knowledgeable in quality, safety, data compliance, and reporting in healthcare.
Consistent delivery of digital health services within budget and operational targets.
Experience with service level agreements and managing digital health services in constrained environments.
Skilled in government stakeholder partnerships, vendor management, and contract negotiations.
Extensive experience managing 24/7 technology infrastructure in large organisations.
Strong leadership, team building, and change management skills.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities.
Experienced in managing Managed Services outsourcing arrangements.
Whilst not essential:
Post Graduate qualifications in management (e.g. MBA) or business-related discipline.
Project Management qualifications (e.g. Agile, Prince 2) and understanding of LEAN based tools and methodology.
Fellowship of the Australian Institute of Digital Health.
Tertiary qualification in healthcare or healthcare related discipline.
