Based in Melbourne, the Executive Dean is responsible for the academic management of the Institute and will play a leadership role in guiding and developing academic priorities in accordance with MIT's strategic directions.
The Head of School of Information Technology & Engineering and the Head of School of Business report to the Executive Dean.
The role encompasses improving student learning and enhancing its effectiveness; producing outstanding graduates; carrying out academic policy development, implementation, and monitoring; overseeing quality assurance; and fostering continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
The ideal candidate will possess a Ph D ideally in a technology, engineering, or business discipline, coupled with prior appointment at a Level E – Professor in an Australian higher education institution or its overseas equivalent.
You will have demonstrated academic leadership, preferably at the Faculty, Head of School or Head of Department level, coupled with strategic planning and people management experience within a higher education or private provider environment.
You bring a distinguished national and international record of achievement in teaching and research and have an in-depth understanding of scholarship in teaching-intensive environments.
Your enthusiasm for learning and teaching, coupled with substantial experience in curriculum design and delivery, quality assurance and your ability to collaborate effectively with professional bodies and external stakeholders will ensure your success.
Superior communication and negotiation skills, an appreciation of cultural diversity and awareness of relevant legislation such as the ESOS Act and Higher Education Standards Framework further enhances your suitability for the role.
