Australian Department of Home Affairs – Melbourne VIC 12 days ago, from Department of Home Affairs Regional Operations | Onshore Detention | Detention Operations | Various Australian Border Force Detention Operations officers are responsible for the oversight and management of Australia's Immigration Detention Facilities (IDFs) and the security, safety, and welfare of detainees, contractors, visitors, and staff.
They work closely with external service providers, government agencies, and stakeholders to deliver services to detainees and ensure the security and safety of detainees and all others within the facility.
Officers are responsible for a range of operational and administrative tasks including quality assurance and oversight of contracted service delivery.
These tasks include audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance with departmental and regulatory standards.
Officers work within high-risk, fast-paced environments and are required to respond to rapidly evolving situations and critical incidents to ensure the safety and security of the IDFs and the people within them.
Key Responsibilities Effectively communicate, liaise, negotiate, and maintain collaborative relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrate resilience and self-awareness, including knowledge of personal limitations and stress factors, working in a high-risk environment.
Be agile and flexible to new or evolving scenarios and changing priorities.
Display integrity and high ethical standards with a commitment to building an inclusive workplace while fostering a positive, energetic, and supportive work culture.
Duties and Responsibilities Interpret and apply legislation, policy, and contractual obligations.
Command immigration detention operational activities.
Work safely in an immigration detention environment.
Manage an immigration detention facility.

To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and: ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
