Role Learning Specialists will be highly skilled classroom practitioners who continue to spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching and learning and have a range of responsibilities related to their expertise, including teaching demonstration lessons, observing and providing feedback to other teachers and facilitating school-based professional learning.
Responsibilities To lead evidence based practice at Auburn High School so that teaching and learning programs are engaging, challenging and responsive to student learning needs.
The Learning Specialist will work with the School Improvement Team (SIT) and contribute to the development and delivery of the school's Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) and School Strategic Plan (SSP) goals and outcomes.
Strategic Leadership: Leads the development of a whole-school literacy and numeracy plan with Literacy and Numeracy Improvement Leaders.
Lead and oversee the continued implementation of the Auburn Instructional Model (GANAG).
Leads the development of a whole-school implementation plan for the High-Yield Strategies (HYS) across the School Strategic Plan (SSP).
Leads the Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) with all staff in developing skills, knowledge and understanding of differentiation and using the inquiry cycle.
Responsibilities: Oversees the Middle Years Literacy and Numeracy Support (MYLNS) initiative and Tutor Learning Initiative (TLI).
Manage and oversee the Learning Walks and Peer Observation programs.
Build excellence in teaching and learning through the implementation of innovation in education.
Model to all staff a comprehensive knowledge and expertise in high quality teaching and learning in relation to the whole-school implementation plans.
Lead the induction of new teachers and VIT registration requirements for graduates, including provision of mentors and AHS resources.
Leads and mentors middle level leaders (Learning Area Leaders) in developing their leadership capacity in leading the data driven cycle.
Member of the School Improvement Team (SIT), Teaching & Learning Team, and Curriculum & Learning Team (CLT).
Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
