Planned Resources are searching for a Planning Investigations Officer to join a municipal in Victoria's beautiful Grampians and surroundings.
As the Planning Investigations Officer, your focus will be on investigations of alleged breaches related to planning, vegetation, and environmental damage.
This position will commence on a short-term contract with the majority of the report writing and admin focused responsibilities from home.
You will only be required to be on site for site visits and hands-on responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities include: Monitor compliance with the Council's Planning Scheme and town planning permit conditions.
Conduct research, inspections, and interviews, and initiate formal legal proceedings on behalf of the Council as directed by the Compliance Resolution Manager and Coordinator Planning Compliance.
Investigate complaints to determine the degree of non-compliance, including site inspections, and explore options for conflict resolution related to this position.
Represent the Council at legal proceedings as directed by the Coordinator Development Compliance and Local Laws.
Issue Planning Infringement Notices as required.
Liaise with staff, clients, agencies, government departments, and community groups on matters relevant to this position.
Assist planning officers and undertake other planning-related duties as required, particularly in relation to enforcement matters.
Provide telephone and counter advice related to the position.
Collaborate with statutory and strategic planning officers and recommend improvements to the planning process or Planning Scheme in response to issues identified through the enforcement process.
To be successful for this position, you must display the below: A tertiary level qualification in town planning or similar discipline or substantial experience in a similar role.
Some experience in government investigation teams, statutory planning or similar planning investigations role.
Proven ability to research, analyse and interpret legislation.
Established problem-solving skills.
Established computer skills with the ability to produce reports.
A current Working With Children Check.
