About the role An exciting new opportunity has become available for a Procurement Category Specialist to join our Procurement & Property team at Loy Yang in Traralgon. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Procurement & Purchasing, you will be responsible for ensuring that AGL Loy Yang delivers maximum value from its external spend, accomplished through structured market engagement, disciplined negotiations, and ongoing category & contract stewardship. Key Responsibilities Category segmentation, spend analysis, cost driver analysis & strategic positioning. Identifying emerging technologies, suppliers and continuous improvement of opportunities. Provide category insights where required. Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, delivering best value sourcing strategies. Ongoing planning of major market engagements and direct negotiations. Facilitate and participate in the evaluation of supplier proposals. About You You will ideally have experience with procurement of complex equipment, materials and services within a heavy industrial environment, dealing with large vendors and high value and risk contracts. Your understanding of risk and contract law will set you up for success. What you'll bring to the table Tertiary qualifications in Procurement, Business, Commerce or Law. Demonstrated experience in superior outcome delivery with large vendors. Experience in developing end to end source to contract activities and supplier negotiations. Advanced communication, interpersonal and influencing skills. A knowledge of the business drivers and issues facing a large-scale energy company or similar is highly regarded. Category management experience is advantageous. MCIPS or Post Graduate qualifications are highly regarded. Applications close on Friday 8 November 2024 .
