Organisation: Department of Transport and Planning Occupation: Projects Reference: 5733 Network Design and Integration is a Group within the Department of Transport and Planning, and is responsible for the delivery of transport priorities through the development and delivery of an integrated pipeline of projects and support Victoria's Big Build to ensure an integrated network.
We're focused on outcomes that deliver more choice, connections and confidence in our travel, ensuring the whole transport network works as one to deliver better services and outcomes.
About the Role This is a Fixed Term, full-time position until 13/9/2027.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Engineer will be responsible for supporting all project activities from design to delivery and commissioning.
As a Project Engineer, you will ensure that all engineering work is completed on time, within scope, and in compliance with relevant safety and quality standards.
The successful incumbent to this position will also collaborate extensively with fellow subject matter experts and external project teams to ensure alignment to the project's vision and purpose.
In addition to the prerequisite, the successful candidate must have a current valid driver license, may be required to undertake a shift which will include as part of a regular pattern or roster cycle Saturday, Sunday, Public Holiday, and/or afternoon/night shifts.
Also, successful applicant may be required to undertake a medical and other safety compliance requirement.
Position Accountabilities The successful candidate needs to provide technical support and advice to management, contractors, and project teams in reviewing and updating project briefs, design specifications, and documentation, while assisting with coordination of design reviews, schedules, and stakeholder meetings.
Additionally, provide sound advice aligned with relevant standards and guidelines, exercising independent judgment to resolve competing objectives and fostering a collaborative, achievement-focused culture.

Project Delivery (Applied) - Defines tasks to be delivered to meet agreed outcomes; Coordinates and guides others in the execution of work activities; Monitors progress of tasks against plans and takes corrective action when required.
Stakeholder Management (Applied) - Takes steps to add value for the client or stakeholder; Links people with other areas as appropriate; Monitors client and stakeholder satisfaction; Constructively deals with stakeholder issues.
Strategic Planning (Applied) - Ensures that day to day planning and work processes are in line with team/organisation strategy; Identifies and develops own and team objectives linking strategies to actions to achieve these; Guides others in strategic planning process.
Professional Knowledge (Engineering) (Applied) - Engages with stakeholders to isolate constraints and requirements for engineering designs or processes and prepares engineering reporting, design and solutions.
Applies systematic tools, techniques and methods to effectively plan and implement well-defined engineering projects.
Reporting (Applied) - Proficient in assessing the quality of data and generating reports.
Uses data to develop reports, visualisations and dashboards.

Qualifications and Experience Mandatory A tertiary qualification in engineering, management, technology or other discipline.
Experience working on major transport infrastructure projects.
