About the role: Reporting to the Budget and Contract Manager, the Senior Analyst works within one of three (3) teams of Senior Analysts and Analysts that will be flexibly deployed to specific portfolios as required.
The Senior Analyst will provide complex budget and contract development, management, analysis, and reporting services to support a designated client group.
The position is responsible for: monitoring budgets, including review and analysis of expenditure within the financial parameters calculating and processing budget journals reviewing and authorising payments to external entities producing and presenting monthly reports on financial positions and forecasts providing financial and budget advice to internal stakeholders verifying financial information in-cabinet submissions, briefs to departmental executives and Ministers contract management and program support About us: At the Victorian Department of Health we want a future where Victorians are the healthiest people in the world.

How you'll make a difference: Oversee the timely and accurate completion of account reconciliations, annual account working papers, financial reports, briefings and other ad hoc reports and correspondence.
Manage transactions using departmental corporate systems, maintain financial systems that support delivery of best-practice, contemporary financial management and services and identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
Liaise with a diverse range of internal stakeholders and ensure a high level of client service delivery.
Assist in the investigation and implementation of critical projects that develop and review policies, professional standards and operating practices that enhance service delivery, budget effectiveness, efficiency and improved client outcomes.
Comply with the Financial Management Act 1994 and other relevant legislation, regulations and government directives, as well as contribute to advice on finance policy, risks, trends and solutions and options for decision-making.
Develop and maintain highly productive working relationships with clients and key stakeholders, understanding their business imperatives and challenges.
Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate: A tertiary qualification in business, accounting, economics or equivalent.
Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants or equivalent professional accounting body is desirable.
Experience in public sector finance would be highly regarded.
CPA or CA or other equivalent accounting qualification and membership will also be highly regarded.
