Our Homewares category is growing, and we are looking for a passionate and experienced Hardgoods and Homewares Designer to join us on this exciting journey! This is such a great opportunity to shape and design desirable and on-trend products that really have impact! We also would love to see your creative flair - please attach a portfolio of your work What you'll be doing As our new Senior Designer, you will be instrumental in identifying, interpreting and implementing global homeware trends to grow sales whilst continuing to bring meaningful moments into our customers' lives.
We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Designer specializing in hardgoods and homewares to join our dynamic team.
The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong sense of aesthetics, and a proven track record in designing innovative and market-leading products.
Some of the key responsibilities are (but not limited to): Product Development to create innovative and marketable designs that align with the company's brand image and target market.
This involves conducting trend research, developing design concepts, and collaborating with product development teams to bring designs to market.
Trend forecasting & identifying new product opportunities in the homewares market.
Product design & Development in 3 D homeware products such as décor, candles branding and design, dinnerware (but not limited to).
Leadership – constantly strive to improve product, process and culture.
Building relationships & influencing key stakeholders.
Lead the design and development of hardgoods and homewares from concept to final product.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product development, marketing, and manufacturing to ensure design feasibility and alignment with brand vision.
Conduct market research and trend analysis to inform design decisions and stay ahead of industry trends.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery to critical path.
Analyse, interpret, and apply global hard goods home trends to enhance value through design, aligning with Kmart's handwriting.
Cultivate a strong aesthetic sense and stay attuned to emerging homeware trends with commercial potential.
Develop and inspire a high-performance team and culture across the team and with their key stakeholders.
To be successful in this role you'll have: Proven experience in a Hardgoods Design role - 8+ years.
Strong ability to forecast and implement on-trend product ranges that have a commercial and broad appeal.
Good understanding of commercial range architecture.
Excellent ability to influence and collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders.
High proficiency in Illustrator, Solid Works or 3 D capabilities programmes and Photoshop.
Ability to create accurate technical specification drawings.
Solid knowledge of factory capabilities and limitations for mass production.
Experience in product development in conjunction with factories.
Excellent time management and organisational skills and exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Confident & articulate presentation skills with strong attention to detail.
