Jackson School was established in 1976 and is situated in St Albans, Victoria.
The school is a Special School for students with a mild intellectual disability.
All students must have a mild intellectual disability with a FSIQ within the 50-70 range and be funded under the Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD) or Disability Inclusion (DI).
The school has 315 students enrolled in 2024, with diverse backgrounds and needs.
Our curriculum programs are firmly developed from the Victorian Curriculum F-10 to educate our students to be independent, responsible, respectful, and safe members of the community.
Selection Criteria - Graduates SC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the capacity to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.
SC2 Demonstrated capacity to implement high impact teaching strategies and evaluate the impact of learning programs on student growth.
SC3 Demonstrated capacity to monitor and assess student learning and use data to inform teaching practice.

Program Benefits - Graduates This position may attract an incentive payment of $5,650 (pre-tax) for the successful candidate who meets the eligibility criteria.
Role - Graduates The primary focus of the range 1 classroom teacher is on developing skills and competencies to become an effective classroom practitioner with support from higher-level teachers.
Responsibilities - Graduates Core responsibilities include: Planning and implementing a range of teaching programs.
Teaching an area of the curriculum to a year level.
Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting student progress.
Implementing strategies to achieve targets related to student learning outcomes.
Maintaining records of class attendance and student progress.
Implementing effective student management consistent with the school charter.
Who May Apply - Graduates To be eligible to apply, a teacher must: Have completed their course requirements and graduated in the last 4 years.
Not be employed as a teacher by the department at the time the position commences.
Applicants must also be currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
