Guided by our Leadership Team, you will receive dedicated support and guidance in your role as a Learning Specialist, ensuring your success in both the classroom and your leadership responsibilities.
As a Learning Specialist, you will actively engage with students in the classroom for three and a half days, fostering their learning and growth, and dedicate one and a half days to non-classroom activities.
Your expertise and leadership in these areas will be instrumental in shaping our educational programs.
Learning Specialists are active members of the School Improvement Team (SIT) and play a vital role as middle leaders at Karwan Primary School, bridging the connection between the Leadership Team, Teachers, and Education Support Personnel.
Selection Criteria SC1 Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum and ability to model exemplary teaching practice.
SC2 Demonstrated expertise in high impact teaching strategies that respond to student learning needs.
SC3 Demonstrated ability to model monitoring and assessment of student learning.
SC4 Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills to engage with students, colleagues, and the broader school community.
SC5 Ability to model behaviours consistent with Department values and support others to reflect on their practice.
Role Learning Specialists will be highly skilled classroom practitioners who spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
Their responsibilities include teaching demonstration lessons, observing and providing feedback to other teachers, and facilitating school-based professional learning.
Responsibilities Key roles of the Learning Specialists may include but are not limited to: Demonstrating high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice.
Modelling exemplary classroom practice including teaching demonstration lessons.
Working with the school leadership team to develop a shared view of effective teacher practice.
Leading and modelling the implementation of school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning.
Providing evidence-based feedback to teaching staff to inform their effectiveness.
Supervising and training student teachers and mentoring teachers.
Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum areas.
