About the role The Honourable Associate Justice Steffensen and Associate Justice Barrett seek a highly ambitious, legally qualified individual with post-admission experience to be their next associate.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the Associate Judges Division, observing a variety of civil matters, including interlocutory applications and trials.
Their Honours practice predominately in the Commercial Court and carry out judicial mediations across the civil jurisdiction.
Her Honour Associate Justice Steffensen is also the Senior Master of Funds in Court.
The VPSG3.1 Associate role commences in January 2024.
To succeed in this role, you should be able to demonstrate excellent organisational, research, and written communication skills, personal qualities suitable for liaising with the profession and public, and a strong academic record.
Duties include: Performing administrative tasks, including maintaining court records and preparing material for use by the judge in court.
Clerking in court.
Liaising with court staff, the public, and the profession.
Legal research, proofreading, and fact-checking.
Document management and file review.
Assisting with the production of judgments, including proofreading and editing.
Attending judicial mediations.
