Michael Fox Arts Accountant and Valuer is a tax agent and qualified fine art valuer based in Collingwood. An opportunity exists for a qualified Head of Valuations and Private Sales to join our organisation on a full-time basis. Key Responsibilities Assess the condition, quality and age of the object or collection Catalogue items and write condition reports Research an artist's credentials and previous auction prices Consult specialists and historians Determine the provenance or history of ownership for a work of art Assess whether a piece has been restored or repaired, and if so, to what extent Understand current market conditions for buyers and sellers alike Educate potential clients about buying at auction Advise on how best to present artwork for sale Negotiate prices between buyers and sellers Authenticate documents surrounding the purchase or sale Keep abreast of new legislative requirements relating to taxation changes To be successful in the role you will have Bachelor of art history 2 - 5 years relevant experience working in the Australian and international auction industry Knowledge of Australian tax law and how it relates to collections within SMSF Experience producing AVAA compliant valuation reports Cultural Gifts Donation valuer, or working toward Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships Excellent verbal and written English communication skills Sound time management in meeting internal and external deadlines Benefits and Culture Inner city location Friendly and tight-knit team #J-18808-Ljbffr
