Not for profit patient advocacy organisation Lead organisational growth Part-time (Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane) About the organisation Launched in 2006, Melanoma Patients Australia (MPA) is the only national, patient driven, non-profit organisation that offers a national network of support and information to patients, their families, carers, and friends, about melanoma prevention, diagnosis, management, and treatment.
MPA provides professional support services (including webinars, face-to-face support groups, 1300 phoneline, and online communities), information, patient advocacy, and patient leadership to industry stakeholders.
As the true voice of patients and carers, MPA also advocates on behalf of patients to all levels of government, as well as relevant service organisations, researchers, and corporations; and supports research and clinical trials seeking to offer the best options for melanoma patients.
About the role As the CEO of MPA, you will lead with vision and energy, building strong, enduring relationships with key stakeholders while driving the organisation's strategic, operational, and fundraising priorities set by the Board.
You will leverage your commercial acumen to identify growth opportunities, develop innovative solutions, and navigate complex challenges to ensure the successful achievement of MPA's goals.
In overseeing day-to-day operations, you will ensure efficient management and progress, guiding a small team of four part-time staff and collaborating closely with volunteers who provide vital peer-to-peer support and manage approximately 12 support groups across Australia.
You will report directly to the Board through the Chair and work in partnership with the Chairs of the Consumer Advisory Group and the Medical Advisory Group.
While experience in the not-for-profit sector, particularly in health or cancer-related charities, is highly regarded, it is not essential.
Your expertise in managing and growing similarly sized organisations will be key to MPA's success.
About you You are a proven and experienced leader with a strong foundation in modern business strategy, capable of thinking and planning at a strategic level and experienced in driving organisational growth through continuous improvement.
You possess outstanding leadership skills, inspiring others to achieve MPA's goals, and bring a solid track record in identifying and developing commercial, marketing, grant, and fundraising opportunities that ensure stable, diverse revenue streams.
With superior communication and presentation skills, you will confidently serve as the public spokesperson for MPA, engaging effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including patients, healthcare professionals, pharmaceutical companies, government, media, and melanoma organizations at all levels.
Financial acumen is essential, as you will need to interpret and report on financial accounts.
A passion for the prevention and treatment of melanoma, along with a genuine respect for the melanoma community, is critical.
You will bring integrity, honesty, and an ability to listen to and act on stakeholder views.
