Position Summary: Reporting to the new CEO, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Deswik is a key executive role responsible for leading the development and execution of the company's global technology and product strategy.
The CTO will oversee the entire product lifecycle, ensuring that Deswik's software products align with business goals, while managing scalability, security, and reliability across product architecture, cloud platforms, and development infrastructure.
The role involves driving innovation through research and development, incorporating emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver products that meet customer needs.
A significant aspect of the role is also leading product managers and ensuring the effective execution of Deswik's product portfolio strategy.
Specifically, key accountabilities include: Technology Strategy & Leadership: Lead the development of and execution of Deswik's global technology and product strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and driving innovation, particularly in Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire product lifecycle from concept to launch, ensuring product architecture, cloud platforms, and development infrastructure are scalable, secure, and reliable.
Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and manage a large, geographically dispersed technical team, providing guidance, mentorship, and ensuring efficient execution of the company's technology vision.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams and engage with external stakeholders, including customers and partners, to ensure technology solutions meet business and market needs.
Financial Modelling & Resource Allocation: Conduct product-focused financial modelling to drive decisions on costs, resource allocation, and profitability, ensuring adherence to company forecasts.
Innovation & R&D: Drive continuous innovation and research, staying abreast of emerging technologies and trends to support Deswik's growth ambitions and long-term product vision.
The Person: The ideal executive for this pivotal role will need to be a seasoned technology leader with a strong track record of success in driving innovation and managing complex technology strategies at a global level.
You will need to bring deep expertise in both software development and the mining sector, with at least 20 years of experience, including leadership roles such as CTO or similar positions.
The successful executive will need to be a visionary leader who has successfully managed the full lifecycle of product development, from ideation to market release, in a software-driven business.
You should have hands-on experience with cloud platforms, AI technologies, and scalable infrastructure, to ensure Deswik's products are secure, reliable, and future proof.
Familiarity with AI fundamentals, data management, and cloud computing platforms like AWS or Azure will be ideal, as is the ability to innovate with new technologies to maintain Deswik's competitive edge.
You will be a strong people leader, who can lead and mentor a large, geographically dispersed technical team, fostering a collaborative environment while ensuring effective execution of the company's technology vision.
