ABOUT US Northern Community Legal Centre (NCLC) is a dynamic not-for-profit community legal centre that operates in one of the fastest-growing areas of Melbourne and has a significant catchment, including the Merri-bek, Hume and Mitchell Shire Local Government Areas.
NCLC operates from a central office in Broadmeadows, a satellite office in Wallan, and with outreach clinics in other service areas.
NCLC ensures services are accessible to the community by providing legal advice, education and referrals.
POSITION OBJECTIVE To effectively develop, implement, and manage internal and external communication strategies that enhance NCLC's brand, visibility, and reputation.
This includes creating and designing compelling content for promotional materials, publications and community education resources; coordinating media relations; managing social media platforms; and ensuring consistent messaging across all channels.
A key focus of this role is to increase awareness of the impact of NCLC's work in the community and with key stakeholders, including funders and potential funders, to support strategic advocacy.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Content Creation Develop, write, design and edit various forms of content including NCLC's annual report, media releases, newsletters, social media posts, project summaries, website content, and other external communications.
Media Relations Cultivate and maintain relationships with media outlets, respond to media inquiries, and manage the distribution of media releases and public statements.
Social Media Management Plan, create, and manage social media content across platforms to ensure consistent brand messaging, increase engagement, and grow the organisation's online presence.
Brand Management Ensure consistent and appropriate use of NCLC branding and messaging across all communications and marketing materials.
Event Promotion and Coordination Develop and execute communication plans to promote events, including managing event announcements, press coverage, and post-event reporting.
Event Coordination Coordinate the delivery of NCLC events, ensuring that all staff have clearly assigned roles and access to communication materials for effective delivery of key messages related to access to justice.
Campaign Planning Assist in the planning and execution of communication campaigns, including goal setting, content development, distribution, and impact analysis.
Performance Tracking Monitor and evaluate the performance of communication strategies, using metrics and feedback to make improvements where necessary.
Internal Collaboration Work closely with the management team to align communication strategies with broader organisational goals.
ABOUT YOU You will have a degree and/or suitable experience in marketing, public relations, business management, communications or fundraising, with excellent interpersonal, collaboration and negotiation skills.
You will have excellent written communication skills with a high attention to detail, including the ability to write engaging content for a diverse range of audiences, computer skills and competency in using software platforms for the purpose of designing communication materials.
