As we wrap up an impressive performance in Paris & head towards the 2024 Paralympics, 2028 LA Games & 2032 Brisbane Games, it is an exciting time to join our Delivery and Partnerships Team! We are currently seeking to recruit a Competitions Manager, with experience in the technical aspects of the sport.
About the Role The Competitions Manager will plan and manage the execution of all facets of athletics competitions held under Athletics Australia auspices, ensuring that all competitions are conducted to national and/or international standard, upholding Athletics Australia's position as a leader in competition and event delivery within the global athletics community.
The Competitions Manager will also manage competition-related matters such as facilities, workforce, and technical matters.
Your core duties will include: Develop the national competitions and events plan; and manage all sport delivery aspects regarding competition management, technical rules and regulations, timetables and sanctioning competitions.
Coordinate overall management of each competition, ensuring that the risk management strategies and competition planning meet Athletics Australia's objectives.
Develop and manage budgets.
Build sport capacity across key areas such as technical management, officiating protocols.
Actively engage with Oceania Athletics, World Athletics, World Para Athletics and other National Federations to secure additional competition opportunities for Australia.
What we are looking for: You are a natural leader, with a vision and commitment to driving success in athletics, and the ability to take others along on that journey.
Knowledge of and experience in the technical aspects of athletics competitions is preferred.
You are detail-oriented, processes, systems, and tools-driven manager, with extensive experience in executing events and competitions in collaboration with a variety of stakeholders.
Proven ability to plan, implement and deliver excellent events within the sporting environment.
Proven ability to manage and reconcile budgets.
Ideally you will have: Experience in executing events and competitions in collaboration with a variety of stakeholders.
Proven ability to plan, implement and deliver excellent events within the sporting environment, preferably athletics.
Proven ability to manage and reconcile budgets.
Experience in the technical aspect of the sport of Athletics.
Demonstrated experience in managing and delivering multiple projects with competing deadlines, within a busy event environment.
Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
A keen commitment to clean sport and abiding by AA's National Integrity Framework suite of policies including the Australian National Anti-doping Policy, Safeguarding Children and Young Persons Policy, and Code of Conduct.
Hold a current police and working with children check or the ability to obtain prior to the commencement of employment and a current driver's licence.
