About the Team Victorian Planning and Connections is a division within AEMO's System Design Department with the key objective to effectively plan, connect new generators, loads and associated augmentations and determine key transmission network investments.
The department plays a key role in successfully navigating the energy future by determining and procuring investment in the best interest of consumers, and by acting as a trusted advisor for Victorian Government.
About The Role Due to an internal promotion, we are seeking a Data Analyst to manage and analyze data, providing key financial reports to internal and external stakeholders.
You'll develop reporting templates, dashboards, and lead improvement initiatives to enhance AEMO's data strategy.
Working closely with Finance, you'll track budgets, manage aged debtors, and drive process efficiencies.
What you will be doing Analyse large datasets to identify trends, patterns and insights Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide data driven recommendations Assist in the design and implementation of data collection processes Communicate findings clearly to stakeholders at all levels Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data analytics Develop high-quality report templates and dashboards by merging diverse datasets to deliver business insights Collaborate with internal teams to develop and manage department budgets, tracking revenue and expenses Manage the Aged Debtors list, working with external stakeholders and finance teams to ensure timely payments Maintain data quality within project management tools and systems, ensuring consistent updates Provide financial analysis and insights to management to monitor business performance against the budget Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting in response to requests from management, government, and industry Lead continuous improvement initiatives, streamlining processes, integrating data, and improving visual data representation Support process improvement strategies, including system upgrades and project management tool enhancements What you will bring to the role Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Technology, Finance, or related field Proven experience in data analysis and reporting Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 3-5 years in a similar role, preferably in Energy, consulting, or finance Expertise in Power BI, Excel, and data visualization Knowledge of accounting and financial concepts preferred Familiarity with Python, DAX, or related tools is a plus Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills Experience with MS Power Automate, Power Apps, and Dynamics 365 is a bonus This position will transfer to Vic Grid in approximately 12 months and be part of a growing infrastructure development and delivery organisation, with a pipeline of work that extends beyond 2050.
