Role Purpose Aesop are seeking an analytical and innovative Data Engineer to join for 12-months operating with a hybrid working pattern, based at our global head office in Collingwood.
Reporting to the Senior Data Engineer, you will work with the Digital, Technology, and Data teams under the guidance of the Engineering Lead to build well-tested and scalable data services for Aesop globally.
This role requires collaboration with Senior Data Engineers, Data & Insights Lead, and Data Product Owners to support the smooth build and operation of the new and existing data platforms.
In this role, you will be responsible for the execution and delivery of data solutions and are expected to contribute to decisions leading to the modernisation of Aesop's data stack.
Some things you may find yourself doing Ensure data assets and applications meet industry standards.
Ability to create relational and non-relational data models.
Deliver data solutions that are maintainable, appropriate for the business' needs, scalable, documented, and take pride in clean solutions.
Ensure, through the development and use of coding standards and automation, that deployed code meets Aesop engineering practice standards for technical delivery and maintainability.
Help Aesop on its way to upgrading and transforming its data footprint.
Learn and improve data ops capabilities following agile development practices for data.
Work within a cross-functional team and be keen to research modern and efficient tools which will help the team make informed decisions about data architecture, development, and operations.
Contribute to the development of technical architecture in line with the technical strategy of the business.
Work with Aesop vendors who are providing development and data engineering services to ensure consistency of approach so Aesop development and data science team can absorb projects back into the team.
Provide data engineering capability within Aesop.
This includes extracting data from multiple data sources and making it available to recommended Aesop data warehouse solution.
Schedule, automate, and monitor data pipelines.
Develop data solutions that adhere to best security and operation practices, while running workloads in cloud infrastructure primarily Azure.
What we are looking for Strong experience working as a Data Engineer in an Agile team within the Azure product ecosystem including Azure data factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks.
Significant experience with modern data engineering technologies (My SQL, MS SQL Server, non-relational DB, etc) in any of the cloud stacks (Azure, AWS, GCP).
Strong experience in programming languages like SQL, Python and pyspark.
Solid understanding of ETL and data ingestion processes and approaches with an ability to design and build them.
Excellent knowledge of DB fundamentals including SQL, Data Modelling and DB architectural considerations.
Ability to build and extend data models to support business needs.
Experience with Ia C (Infrastructure as Code) preferably Terraform.
Previous BI experience preferred, but not essential.
Good understanding of data structures and data pipeline development processes.
Commercial experience building high availability data services.
This includes experience running secure cloud-native applications with operational best practices in place.
