Who we are: The Energy and Water Ombudsman (Victoria) (EWOV) is a not-for-profit, independent and impartial dispute resolution service.

Your new role and team: The Technology, Analytics, and Business Improvement Team (TABI) is dedicated to strategic and operational management of EWOV's ICT, data, and business improvement services, delivering reliable, secure, and effective technical services.
As an EWOV Data Engineer, you will use your expertise in SQL, Python, and cloud services to effectively design and maintain robust data pipelines ensuring efficient data flow into Snowflake.
You will be accountable for supporting EWOV's development and production environments, leveraging Azure services and Dev Ops best practices for automation and infrastructure management ensuring the highest standards of data quality, integrity, and control.
You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to define business needs and drive process improvements to optimise data delivery and scalability.
This position offers full-time hours, with potential consideration for part-time arrangement for the right candidate.
What you'll bring: Expertise in SQL, Python, and cloud services, like Azure and Snowflake, is essential.
Data Handling: Proven track record in manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets (structured and semi-structured).
Programming Proficiency: Strong expertise in a mainstream programming language, with a preference for Python.
Advanced SQL Skills: Extensive experience in designing and building ETL/ELT processes and patterns, including orchestration, Change Data Capture, and incremental processing.
Cloud Expertise: Proficient in using Azure services and cloud warehousing solutions such as Snowflake.
Data Modelling Knowledge: Solid understanding and implementation experience of data modelling techniques, particularly Kimball/star schema.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with the capability to liaise effectively with business stakeholders.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities, with experience in performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes.
Critical Thinking: A curious, critical-thinking mindset with a solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
Relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrated work experience (3-5 years).
Experience in heavily regulated industries is desirable.
