DEPUTY CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER, VICTORIAN REGISTRATION AND QUALIFICATIONS AUTHORITY About the organisation The Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) is the independent statutory authority responsible for ensuring that schools, employers of apprentices and trainees and providers of education and training meet quality standards, and that information is readily available to support informed choice in education and training.
Governed by an independent board that reports to the Minister for Education, the Minister for Skills and Tafe, and the Minister for Economic Growth, the VRQA helps support education and training in Victoria.
About the role The Deputy CEO, Schools (Deputy CEO) provides high-level strategic advice on regulatory matters to the CEO and VRQA Board.
As part of the executive leadership team, this state-wide role involves significant responsibilities, including leading complex regulatory reviews and managing school registration and reviews, senior and secondary education, international education, student exchanges, and accreditation processes.
The Deputy CEO leads and develops teams to ensure the delivery of quality education standards, programs, and outcomes in line with VRQA's objectives and statutory functions.
This role also fosters excellent relationships with stakeholders and contributes to VRQA's performance, culture, and innovation.
About you Diplomatic, collaborative, and a seasoned leader, you are widely respected for your success in building and contributing to high-performing teams.
You excel in delivering results in education or other service-focused contexts, preferably with public sector experience.
You possess deep knowledge of modern regulation and legislative frameworks and are adept at navigating complexity, with experience working with Boards or similar entities.
Known as a team player who balances strategy, critical thinking, and operational awareness, you are an effective communicator and a recognised problem solver who presents with acumen and gravitas.
Your well-credentialed career demonstrates sound judgement and a clear values alignment with delivering results in finely balanced, people-oriented, regulatory contexts.
