Want to be part of it? About the Role The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Deputy General Counsel to provide a critical role at the Office of the General Counsel.
Reporting to the General Counsel, the Deputy General Counsel will oversee the delivery of legal services to a defined cohort of DJCS business units and Ministers.
Some of your duties will include: Play a key leadership role in the Office of the General Counsel and ensure the efficient and effective performance of its functions.
Identify and resolve issues referred to or emerging from the Office of the General Counsel's work.
Provide sophisticated, authoritative, solutions-based independent counsel across the full spectrum of issues faced by DJCS.
About You To be successful in this role, you will have: Demonstrated ability to co-lead and manage legal teams.
Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills.
Extensive leadership and management experience.
Highly-developed communication and relationship management skills.
Sound strategic thinking skills.
Demonstrated experience in leading and motivating professional staff.
Qualifications Admitted, or eligible to be admitted, to practice as a legal practitioner in Victoria (mandatory).
Significant experience leading legal teams (mandatory).
Post-graduate qualifications in law, public policy, or similar are desirable but not mandatory.
