About The Role Prisoners have markedly elevated rates of mental illness, chronic disease, substance dependence and engagement in health risk behaviours.
The prison setting provides a unique opportunity to address the physical and mental health needs of this disadvantaged group.

The Director Medical Services (DMS) provides clinical leadership on all initiatives to improve patient care and is involved in strategic planning for clinical and medical services.
This position also facilitates the delivery of high quality health services across acute and primary health care, mental health and Alcohol and Other Drugs and oversees population health.
The DMS provides professional leadership and governance for all medical practitioners with a focus on medical workforce, patient safety and quality improvement, medical education, and population health.

ELIGIBILITY Evidence of Medical registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) must be provided prior to commencement.
Demonstrated considerable experience in a senior management role in the health sector.
Postgraduate qualifications commensurate with clinical duties and medical administration role.
Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (FRACMA) or evidence of progression towards Fellowship; or Post Graduate Health Management qualifications is desirable.
In accordance with the National Child Safety Principles, people who work directly with children and young people must have a current Working with Children Check or be able to successfully apply for one to be eligible for appointment to this position.
