We're looking to hire a Human Resource Consultant to provide technical and professional-level advice and consultation to staff.
This is a great opportunity within the Human Resources Division where you'll be joining a supportive team with great leadership, a solid vision for the future, and the support that you need to grow and strengthen your skills as an HR professional.
This will be mostly telework, with an occasional need to come to an office.
Some of what you'll do: Provide advice and guidance regarding various types of leave and oversee the administration and determination of the agency's responsibilities under the Family and Medical Leave Act, Family Care Act, shared leave, and other protected leave laws.
Consult on classification issues, and work with managers and supervisors regarding the development of position descriptions.
Provide guidance regarding personnel/payroll actions in accordance with governing Washington Administrative Codes, Collective Bargaining Agreements, and agency administrative policies, practices, and procedures.
Consult and process all incoming and outgoing paperwork for employees and appointment letters; provide new employee onboarding, maintaining, and offboarding staff.
Provide information to affected employees to help them understand their rights and responsibilities under protected leave laws, and calculate eligibility and qualifications for leave.
Listen, understand, and communicate issues effectively in multiple formats, while evaluating options and courses of action; analyze issues to completion with a clear understanding of goals and outcomes.
Conduct training individually or in a group setting on a variety of HR topics.
Who should apply? Those with a bachelor's degree with a focus on business, human resources, social or organizational behavioral sciences, or related fields and one year of professional human resource experience.
Or Equivalent education/experience.
Desired: Working knowledge of federal and state Human Resources laws.
An excellent communicator who cares about the customer experience.
Ability to meet deadlines while working with interruptions.
Ability to critically analyze problems or data and develop viable solutions.
