Host School The host school for the Shepparton English Language Centre (SELC) since 2008 is St Georges Road Primary School.
The School Principal has overall responsibility for the school, including the SELC.
The SELC is located in a discrete building on the St Georges Road Primary School site and is responsible for providing EAL (English as an Additional Language) Intensive English Tuition to New Arrivals students in primary and secondary government schools in the Shepparton Schools District.
New Arrival Primary and Secondary students will attend the Centre full-time for 6 - 12 months depending on their visa and ability.
Selection Criteria SC1: Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum and ability to lead and manage the implementation of school priorities.
SC2: Ability to lead the planning and implementation of high impact teaching strategies that respond to student learning needs.
SC3: Ability to monitor and assess student learning and use data to lead improvement initiatives.
SC4: Exemplary interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to lead collaborative relationships focused on student learning.
SC5: Ability to model behaviours consistent with Department values and support colleagues in adopting these behaviours.
Role Duties may include the following: Support schools in the Cluster to address the specific language and learning needs of EAL students.
Work with school leadership teams to include EAL-specific goals in School Strategic Plans.
Mentor and coach classroom teachers and education support staff.
Assist schools to develop processes regarding enrolment and support for EAL students and their families.
Support teachers to implement differentiated curriculum to meet the diverse learning needs of EAL students.
Provide advice and support to schools about effective communication with the non-English speaking background parent/carer community.
Qualifications and Experience 1.
An EAL teaching qualification recognised by the Victorian Institute of Teaching (preferred).

At least 5 years of teaching experience in EAL (preferred).
