Permanent full-time position Monthly Rostered Day Off (RDO) Personal and professional learning opportunities available If you're passionate about sustainability and community engagement, we are seeking an energetic individual interested in becoming an Education & Advocacy Officer within our Parks and Natural Environment Department.
Make a difference for the community and environment through Banyule's Urban Forest Strategy (UFS).
About The Role In this newly created role, you'll collaborate with stakeholders and the community to protect and enhance our urban forest, promote tree canopy and urban greening initiatives, and support biodiversity improvement.
Assist with the delivery and implementation of community-based Urban Forest projects and contribute to the development of new policies, strategies and procedures.
Offer high-quality advice, education, and advocacy to internal and external customers and stakeholders regarding the UFS.
Lead, guide, and support staff, stakeholders, and the community to ensure the successful delivery of UFS actions.
Write high quality reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
What Will You Bring Proven ability to collaborate with and support a diverse team, fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.
A strong commitment to providing high-quality customer service, with an understanding of diverse community needs and perspectives.
Experience in developing and implementing community consultation, advocacy, and project management initiatives, with an emphasis on inclusive and participatory approaches.
Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to produce clear, concise reports and external correspondence accessible to a wide range of audiences, including community groups, agencies, and government authorities.
Proven ability to produce technical reports and communicate complex information clearly and accessibly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, set priorities, and plan and organise work both independently and within a team, balancing multiple responsibilities and ensuring timely achievement of objectives.
Skills, Experience And Certificates Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in Horticulture, Conservation, Environmental Sciences, Landscape Architecture, Community Engagement, Project Management, Education, or a related field.
Experience in delivering environmental education, community engagement, or volunteer programs, with a focus on fostering inclusive and diverse participation, and the ability to effectively engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
Valid Driver Licence CPR/ First Aid qualification (or willing to obtain).
Mandatory Pre-employment Screening Police Check.
