The College is academically focused and has a high level of participation in other curriculum areas such as Music and the Visual & Performing Arts.
The College has developed a strong and tangible ethos based around hard work, respect for learning, the rights of others and the pursuit of success.
Through the very successful student leadership program, the house program and a series of large general assemblies, the College promotes involvement, student participation and service to others.
The College's sporting teams are regularly successful right through to the state level.
The College Curriculum is a standard academic curriculum with VET subjects offered off campus.
The College offers German and Japanese through to Year 12 and Music Performance is a strong VCE subject.
The Instrumental Music program has 300 active participants and the College employs 20 instrumental music teachers.
Selection Criteria Demonstrated experience in assessing, conceptualising and analysing wellbeing issues, and providing evidence-based direct counselling for a range of mental health issues.
Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing evidence-based intervention strategies for clients with complex needs.
Demonstrated ability to input into the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and strategies relating to mental health and wellbeing.
Highly developed communication, networking and interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of people.
Ability to provide leadership and professional learning that informs and influences the work of others involved in the engagement and wellbeing of children and young people.
Clear understanding of legislative requirements regarding privacy of health information.

Possess an in-depth knowledge and understanding of mental health disorders, developmental disabilities and their relationship to child and adolescent development.

Work co-operatively and collaboratively with other wellbeing team members, Assistant Principal (Wellbeing), Heads of House, House Leaders and other College staff to work towards the best social, emotional and academic outcomes for students.
Demonstrate a high level of ability in written and verbal communication and proficiency in documentation and record keeping.
Responsibilities Administrative Maintain accurate, confidential files.
Maintain individual case statistics and records.
Triage students referred to the Wellbeing Team and ensure students are seen promptly and with appropriate regularity for their needs.
Lead planning meetings on a regular basis and participate in peer consultation with other Wellbeing Team members.
Attend (as required) case management meetings with House Leaders and report students of concern to Heads of House in weekly meetings.
Present to students on welfare related issues as required.
Manage small group programs as required.
Implement the Disability Inclusion reforms in accordance with DET requirements and the 3-tiered funding model.
Develop resources for staff to support Tier 2 & 3 students with SLDs in the classroom.
Plan and deliver professional learning, coaching and support to all staff to build capacity and understanding of inclusion principles, practices and delivery.
Assist with the planning, development and implementation of programs that will assist students and their families in coping with the pressures of study, as well as the social, emotional and family issues encountered by students when required.
Undertake regular professional development and proactively advise the school on current best practice in the area of developmental and educational psychology.
Counselling Provide individual counselling and guidance to students who may be self-referred or referred by House Leadership team or parents using evidence-based interventions.
Work closely with families to facilitate positive parenting practices.
Develop, in collaboration with the Assistant Principal (Wellbeing), an overall psychological and educational approach to designated students.
Establish and maintain contacts with qualified personnel and welfare agencies for students requiring therapeutic counselling or intervention beyond the resources of Viewbank College.
Liaise with external providers and professionals regarding students where appropriate.
Provide consultation to teachers, Heads of House, Assistant Principal (Wellbeing), Senior & Middle School, Pathways Advisor and the Principal on matters regarding particular students' welfare.
Observe students in the classroom environment to assist in setting up appropriate supports for their learning and wellbeing.
Report to the Assistant Principal (Wellbeing) any problems/issues associated with student wellbeing or students at risk at the College.
Act, where appropriate, as an advocate for students by ensuring that students have advocacy within the College or with other agencies in the wider community.
Provide referral to staff for issues of a personal nature.
Seek professional supervision on a regular basis.
Perform other duties related to this position as determined by the principal.

Conditions of Employment This vacancy is to replace an employee on parental absence and is for a period of seven years or until the employee absent on leave returns to duty at the school.
