The Role We are seeking experienced Cloud Engineers with a specialisation in both Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure to design, build and enhance scalable, reliable cloud-based solutions.

These roles will be part of larger project teams to develop solutions and deliver capability.
These are new roles in a growing Branch, and you will be instrumental in helping to build both human and technical capabilities to achieve the Defence mission.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP).
This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.

About our Team You will be part of a team of ICT professionals delivering complex projects across key Digital domains in both the Military and Enterprise Systems Divisions within Defence Digital Group (DDG).
These roles will provide technical expertise, mentorship and coaching in a matrixed construct, as teams and individuals are embedded into projects as needed.
As a Digital Engineer in DDG you may either: Lead a team of ICT professionals experienced in key technology platforms/products, or Work individually on projects as the technical engineering SME.

Our Ideal Candidate You will have one or more of the following: Deep expertise in the design and deployment of cloud infrastructure using AWS and Azure services following best practices for architecture, security, and performance; Experience implementing infrastructure-as-code and designing/configuring storage and disaster recovery solutions using AWS and Azure toolsets; Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and optimise our cloud environments, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and secure capability; Hands-on experience with containerisation technologies like Docker and Kubernetes on both AWS (EKS, ECS) and Azure (AKS); Solid understanding of cloud security principles, including managing Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles, policies and ensuring network security; Familiarity with Dev Ops principles, including building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines; and AWS and Azure certifications (e.g.
AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are highly desirable.
