About the Role
As an Engineering Chapter Lead, you are responsible for building world class capability in your chapter. You'll be a promoter and ambassador of the new culture and ways of working. You will bring domain knowledge or deep expertise on a specific topic and develop this expertise and T-shaped capability in your chapter members. Along with Product Owners and coaches, Chapter Leads care for and nurture the growth of their chapter members to ensure they are inspired by a sense of purpose and are continually building their mastery and autonomy.

What will your day look like?
As a Chapter Lead, you will:
Develop chapter members to build existing skills in software development, coding and automation.
Drive productivity and wellbeing in a culture of professionalism.
Create psychological safety for every chapter member.
Innovate transformational solutions in deployment, change management and incident management.
Build continuous delivery practices to increase delivery speed.
Participate in collaborative leadership forums to build robust, enterprise grade scalable integration platforms.
Utilise tools in best practices to build, verify and deploy platform solutions in the most efficient ways.
Mentor, coach and advise junior employees about how to build, assemble, code and deploy effective solutions.
Create career opportunities for chapter members to achieve personal growth, knowledge development and promotion.
Contribute to a culture within the Technology Area and the Engineering Chapter encouraging collaboration, continual learning and improvement.
Assist with ongoing support for platforms as required e.g. problem and incident management.
Create and maintain technical documentation, ensuring that published specifications accurately reflect the real world.
Participate in meetings with squad members to estimate, plan and deliver integration solutions as part of strategic and bank-wide initiatives.
Act as a trusted technical advisor to product owner.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
Self-directed.
A strong software engineering background.
Experience in applying industry best practices in software development.
Experience managing and coaching a team of up to 10 engineering professionals, in multiple disciplines.
Providing technical direction and support to senior engineers.
Able to lead complex pieces of work.
Ability to navigate ambiguities and make decisions in a complex environment.
Help build new design patterns and methods to uplift the engineering practice.
Support requirement-gathering activities by identifying technical impacts and challenging ambiguities.
Risk identification across delivery, security and operational domains.
Review and make contributions to technology strategies.
Hands-on ability to contribute code to a complex code base.
Drive code management practices across source code management, peer reviews and CI/CD automation.
Design and deliver complex automation of workflows.
Mentor and coach engineers in software engineering concepts such as design patterns and engineering practices.
