English Language Teacher Melbourne CBD, Melbourne, Australia About the role Hawthorn-Melbourne has been providing English language courses for international students for almost 40 years.
Today, we offer a broad range of programs to serve the varied objectives of our students, including General English, Academic English, IELTS Preparation and English for High School.
We also provide international students with a pathway to the University of Melbourne via our direct entry program – UMELBP.
As warmer weather returns and the new year approaches, we are expecting an increase in teaching opportunities at our college, particularly on UMELBP.

Classes run face-to-face for 4 hours a day, and teachers have additional time to complete other duties, including preparation, marking, and attending meetings.
Teachers typically work between 2 and 5 days a week, depending on their preferences and the needs of the school.
The person we seek will ideally have the following: Minimum of a first degree and formally recognised TESOL teaching qualification, such as CELTA.
EFL/ESL teaching experience in Australia or overseas.
Can demonstrate an approach to teaching which shows evidence of effective and culturally sensitive class management, knowledge of current TESOL theory and practice in the ESL/EFL classroom and an understanding of student engagement and learning styles.
The ability to carry out administrative duties required of Hawthorn-Melbourne teaching staff to a high standard (e.g.
monitoring of attendance, assessment standardisation and moderation, course record-keeping).
Professionalism, which includes teamwork, collegiality, information and resource sharing, and high standards of professional conduct.
Current Working with Children Check.
Experience across a wide range of ESL courses.
Postgraduate qualifications in TESOL, such as DELTA, MTESOL.
Familiarity with online learning platforms including Zoom and Moodle.
Strong MS Office competencies, including Outlook and Share Point.
