Research & Analysis Unit Supervisor This is a remote/home-based, full-time, permanent Epidemiologist 3 (Non-Medical) Supervisor position.

The Office of Nutrition Services (ONS) is seeking a Research & Analysis Unit Supervisor (Epi 3 – Non-medical) to lead our efforts in supporting maternal and child health through data-driven programs.
At ONS, we enhance the health of over 300,000 Washington residents by providing critical services like WIC, WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counseling, SNAP-Ed, and more.
Our mission is to promote healthy starts, healthy choices, and accessible services through culturally sensitive programs.
As an essential part of the Research, Analysis, and Evaluation (RAE) section, you will play a key role in shaping the future of maternal and child health programs in the state.
What you will do: Lead and Supervise the Epidemiology Team Hire, train, and guide epidemiologists.
Oversee and review projects to ensure quality work.
Mentor staff and manage performance reviews.
Oversee WIC Epidemiology Projects Lead investigations on maternal and child health.
Work with public health agencies and researchers.
Provide data expertise and respond to requests.
Support Emergency Preparedness and Other Duties Help with urgent projects and technical assistance.
Stay prepared for emergency response efforts.

Your technical competence shines, making you an invaluable asset to our team! Required Qualifications: Eight (8) years of experience managing epidemiological programs and/or projects which includes experience conducting epidemiologic investigations, research, and analysis.
A master's degree or higher in epidemiology -OR- master's degree or higher in public health or a closely allied field including 12 graduate quarter hours or equivalent (500 level or above) in epidemiology and 12 graduate quarter hours or equivalent in biostatistics, may substitute for up to three (3) years of the required eight (8) years of experience in managing epidemiological programs and/or projects.
AND the following skills, abilities and competencies are required: Modern epidemiologic, surveillance, and evaluation principles and practices.
Management principles and techniques including personnel/supervision, including hiring, recruiting, training, mentoring, evaluating, and disciplinary action as necessary.
Competencies include: Communication: Demonstrates ability to effectively give and receive information both orally and in writing to diverse audiences.
Cultural Competency: Ability to interact with diverse customers and stakeholders demonstrating cultural, ethnic, and gender sensitivity and competence.
Customer Service Orientation: Consistently demonstrates to customers an interest in them and in solving their problems.
Interpersonal Skills: Adapts to and works effectively with a variety of situations and people.
Quality Improvement: Experience applying quality improvement tools to improve efficiency, accuracy and overall quality.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications: Three (3) years of supervisory experience which includes: Directing a group of managers to lead a team of professionals.
Informing the development of necessary legislation and rules.
Leading process and improvement activities, resulting in improved service, efficiency or cost savings.
Partnering and collaborating with the community, local health jurisdictions, and other state and federal agencies.
Two (2) years of chronic disease and/or injury surveillance and evaluation experience.
