Primary Purpose: The purpose of this role is to: Produce BOQ costings and purchase orders for Burbank Urban ensuring that project costs are accurately calculated and target margins are achieved in accordance with business unit objectives.
Ensure all contractual requirements for the project are formulated, administered, and maintained during a project life span.
Key Result Areas: Measure Feasibilities: Produce BOQs for project building costs incorporating input from all relevant stakeholders.
Accuracy: Ordered project costs remain consistent with budgeted costs.
Timeliness: Estimates and production orders delivered within agreed time frame.
Procurement: Review and analyse project specifications and drawings to build a scope of works to issue to subcontractors/suppliers for quote requests and to accurately estimate project costs.
Identify areas of improvement and procure key stakeholders for project specific requirements.
Align procurement strategy with tender budget.
Assist in sourcing new suppliers and ensure payment terms are in line with Burbank Urban's accounting guidelines.
Construction: Coordinate works with the Site Supervisors and Project Managers throughout project lifecycle and assist in advancing on-site works.
Track project expenditure, inclusive of subcontractor claims.
Receive feedback from building team regarding queries on orders and resolve to enable construction to continue without delay.
Process any building variations that arise to ensure documentation reflects project as built, including variations to contract pricing and order amendments.
Ensure construction team feedback on speed and suitability of resolution.
Maintain as built documentation during construction process.
Workflow: Contribute to weekly workflow planning, ensuring estimates & production orders are completed as planned.
Identify and implement solutions to any blockages threatening on-time delivery in conjunction with Operations Manager.
Ensure tasks are completed in accordance with planned dates.
Gather feedback from admin, drafting, and construction teams.
Reporting: Ensure all task allocations and completions are recorded on the workflow tracking system immediately they occur.
Produce regular margin variation reporting.
Quality Control: Contribute to the development, documentation and implementation of quality control processes to ensure the accuracy of completed BOQs & orders.
Adhere to established quality control processes.
Compliance: Ensure all BOQs & orders produced comply with relevant regulatory controls – building code, developer guidelines, PPRs, planning permit conditions, covenants, restrictions on title etc., and are consistent with all contract documentation.
Ensure orders are allocated to suppliers and contractors in accordance with procurement schedules.
ETS Reduction: Respond to feedback from construction team regarding causes of estimating related margin erosion.
Take action to ensure any reported errors are corrected and not repeated.
Monitor % of margin erosion each month attributable to purchase orders completed.
Key Supplier Relationships: Liaise with key consultant suppliers (e.g.
engineer) regarding required work, monitor performance against service level agreements (SLAs) and report performance.
Escalate any shortfall.
Ensure inputs from suppliers are provided in accordance with production plan and service level agreements.
Team Development: Contribute to and participate in department training programs including the efficient use of Databuild software.
Typical Qualifications & Experience: At least 5 years' experience of domestic medium density construction estimating, Databuild or similar software & BCA.
Proven knowledge of domestic construction methods.
Able to build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Able to understand and interpret technical aspects of design and construction.
Tertiary qualified in a building or engineering field.
