An opportunity exists for a proactive and experienced accountant to join our Expense Management team, within the Hanes Finance team, as the Expense Accounting Lead. As part of the Expense Management team, this role will report into the Group Reporting Manager and manage a team of 3 Expense Accountants. You will need to leverage your accounting skills whilst assuming responsibility for providing high quality financial information to both internal and external stakeholders. Our ideal candidate will be a hands-on team player with strong coaching, organisational skills, a 'can do attitude' with a high level of accountability and proactivity who can manage a team. In addition, the position requires a critical thinking and continuous improvement mindset, with an ability to identify and implement system and process improvements to drive efficiencies within the finance team.
Primary responsibilities include:
The accuracy and completeness of designated areas of the P&L and balance sheet
Overseeing the timely completion of month-end journals
Balance sheet reconciliations
P&L and balance sheet analysis
Directly supporting forecasting and budgeting
Liaising with external audit
Ad hoc financial analysis as required
Your day to day responsibilities:
Manage team with adherence to month-end accounting and reporting responsibilities
Management of accounting for designated areas of the P&L and balance sheet
Balance sheet reconciliation preparation and review
Ad-hoc accounting problem solving
External & internal audit compliance
What experience/skills do I have?
Experience in an accounting role, within a large corporate environment or within professional practice
A degree in accounting or finance
CA or CPA qualified
Advanced Stakeholder Management
Experience in a role with at least one direct report
Excel, advanced level
Experience working with a large accounting system, preferably JD Edwards
Ability to problem solve and analyse complex data
Critical thinking and continuous improvement mindset
