Expressions of interest for exciting opportunities to join the County Court of Victoria as an Associate in early 2025.
VPS Grade 3.1 – $76,817 + superannuation.
Most Associate positions are full time and ongoing; however, there may be some full time, fixed-term roles where appropriate.
Various associate positions in the Criminal, Common Law, and Commercial Divisions of the County Court of Victoria may be available from January 2025 to April 2025.
About the role
The Court is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) positions as Associates to Judges across all three Divisions of the Court. Through the EOI process, the Court is looking to fill future vacancies that may arise from January 2025 to April 2025.
As a Judge's Associate, you will have an exciting opportunity to gain valuable experience in the Court and develop an understanding of court processes and procedures. Judges' Associates liaise extensively with the legal profession and observe the work of advocates and the judiciary. The role will enable you to gain a thorough working knowledge of legal principles and legislation in a dynamic and sensitive environment. As a Judge's Associate, you will be part of a dedicated team charged with the responsibility of supporting a Judge in chambers and in court.
About you
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
A well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
The ability to exercise sound judgment.
Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
Excellent computer literacy and administration experience.
A valid Australian State or Territory driver licence.
A law degree and/or experience in legal practice or an associated field is highly desirable.
Recent law graduates, legal practitioners, those who have undertaken clerkships and placements at the County Court, and candidates interested in a future at the Victorian Bar are encouraged to apply.
