Fixed term Opportunity to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public Service.
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Community Liaison Officer to provide a critical role at Police, Racing, Victims and Coordination.
About the Business Unit This is an exciting opportunity to deliver a major new initiative for victims of crime.
The FAS is a landmark reform that will replace the judicially based Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal with an administrative scheme that prioritises the needs of victims and supports their recovery from violent crime.
About the Role Reporting to Director – Assessment & Recognition, you will focus on building strong relationships with Victorian Aboriginal communities to address barriers in accessing FAS through the FAS Aboriginal Support Pathway.
Some of your duties will include: Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the histories, cultures, and contemporary issues facing Victorian Aboriginal communities.
Experience in working respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal individuals, families, and communities, ensuring culturally safe practices in all interactions.
Proven ability to build strong, trusting relationships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) and other relevant community groups.

Ability to identify and advocate for solutions that address the barriers faced by Aboriginal communities in accessing services of FAS.
Qualifications A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, proven experience working with Aboriginal communities, and strong communication and interpersonal skills is highly desirable.
