What will you do in an average week? Working to your strengths, you will provide over-arching leadership and general management of the GAZMAN business, to ensure maximum efficiency, effectiveness and growth.
This will include stores, merchandise, product, marketing, people management and expense management, all to maximize sales and profitability.
Be contributing and delivering on a cohesive company strategy and vision and driving the business development and expansion strategies to continue to strengthen the company's market position.
You will directly oversee a highly capable team and senior leader across all functions of the business including Retail Operations, Wholesale, Planning, VM, Product and Marketing, ensuring that they are aligned with the company strategy and are provided with leadership, mentoring and development opportunities ongoing.
In this key role, you will act as the custodian of the culture and heartbeat of the organisation to ensure the business remains an 'employer of choice.' Therefore, decision-making with the core organisational values of honesty, integrity, ethics and respect will need to be always at the forefront.
Here's what it will take: Proven GM level experience: ideally in a 'like for like' role within a small to medium retail organisation.
The candidate will need to have GM level experience leading the multiple functions/disciplines of a retail business.
A variety of industry backgrounds will be considered: It's likely the candidate will have experience in soft goods (textiles and/or apparel) and/or possibly homewares; however, all category backgrounds will be considered providing they have had deep exposure to a retail trading and manufacturing/production environment.
The GM will have a sense of style/trend, and an eye for product and quality, without necessarily being a product expert.
Understands the nuances of a family business: This opportunity is unlikely to suit someone who has come from a pure corporate background.
A deep passion for delivering sustainable results: You know effortlessly how to translate a 'vision' into day-to-day excellence and achieve results that are sustainable for the long term across a 'whole' business.
Are proven in your ability to articulate a clear vision: You develop plans, targets and timelines that will take a business and its team, from its current state to its next level of accelerated growth.
A customer-centric mentality and a retailer at heart: You have unquestionable passion for all aspects of retail.
You inherently believe that customers come first every time and a retail business exists to create 'customers for life.' A leadership style that will naturally listen, learn and build relationships in the first instance: You are also pragmatic and measured in your approach to decision-making and advice-giving.
Sound business acumen and experience managing significant P&L's: You therefore have a deep understanding of the financial levers across all areas.
Are authentic, calm, humble and down to earth: this oozes from your every pore.
You take a non-hierarchical approach: i.e.
are just as comfortable getting your hands dirty as much as you are at performing at the strategic and high-level business and relationship management aspects of the role.
You are always 'in it for the team.' Highly trustworthy, credible and available: This role heads up the largest and highest profile brand within the Austin Group.
