General Paediatrician - Paediatric Training Coordinator Requisition No: 1850 Executive Division: Operations Program: Paediatrics Department: Paediatric Medicine Enterprise Agreement: Medical Specialists (Victorian Public Health Sector) Job Function: Medical Join our vibrant General Paediatric service as an experienced Paediatrician, and oversee the significant portfolio managing our local paediatric training program.
As a General Paediatrician, you will diagnose and manage a broad array of paediatric health issues, providing comprehensive and compassionate care to the multicultural paediatric population of Western Melbourne.
There is a significant outpatient clinic component to this role.
Acute inpatient clinical service is optional.
There are ample opportunities for peer review and discussion, and the unit has a supportive and collegiate culture.
As the local Paediatric Training Coordinator, you will oversee and coordinate the educational program for trainees undertaking Advanced and Basic Training in General Paediatrics, ensuring content meets the curriculum requirements of RACP training, and provide clinical and professional support to trainees.
Clinical appointment is for 3.5 days per week (7 x 3.5 hour sessions per week = 0.7 FTE), with 0.2 FTE dedicated to the Training Coordinator role.
The successful applicant will be required to work 1 day per week at either our Bacchus Marsh hospital or Melton community health paediatric service (site dependent on successful applicant's skills), which includes covering the Level 2 special care nursery for those working at the Bacchus Marsh site.
To be Successful in this Role, you will: Have recognised qualifications as a General Paediatrician with experience in managing patients across general, developmental, and behavioural paediatric medicine.
Ideally, have recent acute inpatient experience at Senior Registrar or Consultant level, but this is negotiable for those applicants seeking only an outpatient-based position.
Be prepared to work at all Western Health sites.
Contribute to a positive organisational culture and role model professionalism with respect to patient dignity and compassion, effective communication, and ethical clinical care.
Have experience and skills in medical education, teaching and supervision of Junior Medical Staff and Medical Students.
Be familiar with the RACP Educational Framework and Curriculum requirements for General Paediatric Advanced Training.
