About the opportunity Our Communications team at Australia Post is growing, and we are looking for the right person to lead our recently established Business Unit Communications team.
This is a great opportunity to develop a team that is responsible for partnering with Executives on both internal and external communications strategies supported by a team of Business Unit Communication Specialists, an Enterprise Communications team with a specific focus on channels and business continuity, and a Media Relations team, which includes a corporate media and PR team.
Reporting to the General Manager, Corporate Communication, you will play a significant role in the Communications Leadership Team.
The role primarily carries responsibility for protecting and enhancing Australia Post's reputation and its social licence to operate, achieved through the delivery of Australia Post's communications strategy.
You will work with the Communications Leadership Team to develop the overarching external communications strategy and messaging for the Enterprise.
The role requires exceptional stakeholder relationship skills to protect and enhance the organisation's purpose and reputation, ensuring the Corporation's economic and strategic value is better understood by key stakeholders.
You'll also: Help deliver on the Communications strategy and think about strategic initiatives that will improve communication and drive understanding for our team members.
Build trusted relationships with leaders across the business, prepare creative and compelling content, briefs, messaging, and presentations as needed.
Work with Business Unit teams to develop a deep understanding of particular interests, agendas, issues, and opportunities to work collaboratively.
Support key enterprise projects and initiatives by developing and advising on communications approaches to enhance team member and stakeholder engagement.
Work with Executive Managers and Executive Assistants to deliver key events (e.g., Town Halls).
Help investigate and distribute internal good news stories.
Collaborate with the wider Communications team to ensure consistency of business messages and alignment with enterprise-wide programs.
Support the Enterprise Communications team when needed.
Help manage the calendar of communications activity.
Work with the Head of Team and Senior Communications Managers to identify opportunities for innovation for the Team and manage innovation projects.
About you You are a communications specialist who likes to get things done.
You are curious, creative, and can translate complex information for frontline team members.
You are organised, efficient, adaptable, and have a solution-focused attitude.
You enjoy building strong relationships with team members and stakeholders across the business.
What are we looking for? 15+ years' experience as a communications professional in a large or dynamic organisation.
Experience in developing, executing, and evaluating communication plans.
Excellent understanding of a wide variety of communication channels and techniques, including digital communications.
Experience working for organisations in the retail or logistics industry that have a geographically spread workforce is preferred but not essential.
Natural curiosity about issues and developments regarding current news issues and the broader community socio-political environment.
Creative, organised, and efficient.
Experience with creative production processes, e.g., video, graphic design, and event management.
Demonstrated project management skills.
Understanding of issues and reputational impact.
