As Head of Languages at St Catherine's School, Waverley, you will work closely with the Headmistress and Senior Leadership Teams to drive and implement the school's strategic and operational plans as you oversee a highly qualified Languages Department which currently offers French, Spanish, Japanese, Mandarin and Latin.
The position requires the successful leader to: Oversee the preparation of programs for Years 7-12 in accordance with NESA syllabuses and requirements, and school and departmental policies Provide support for the schools' language exchange programs in cooperation with the Head of Global Enrichment Oversee all assessment within the department, including the preparation and marking of assessment tasks, examination and test papers.
Prepare a faculty professional development plan and promote and monitor appropriate faculty based and external professional development opportunities for each staff member in line with school and faculty strategic priorities Ensure that school and department policies are properly and effectively implemented Prepare departmental budgets and manage expenditure Teach a limited number of classes as needed The successful leader requires: Fluency in at least one (preferably two) of the languages taught at St Catherine's Experience teaching and/or coordinating HSC courses Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Motivation, dedication and enthusiasm for learning Positivity and a high level of emotional intelligence Detailed knowledge of best practice in teaching and learning, current educational trends and translating theory into practice Ability to work autonomously and proactively but also as part of a team Skills in problem solving, giving guidance and direction The ability to function effectively in a dynamic, creative environment Willingness to maintain loyalty, confidentiality and support for the school Willingness to actively support for the Christian character and purposes of the school is essential.
