This is a unique opportunity as the Health and Safety Advisor - Systems and Policies to join a large Health and Safety team who are passionate about delivering positive safety outcomes.
About the Role Key areas: Assist the Health & Safety Systems Manager to deliver the health and safety strategic objectives and build a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in health and safety practices.
Management of the company's safety management system including technical documentation and document management.
Develop and review safety policies and procedures including liaison with subject matter experts to ensure policies and procedures are developed and implemented to a high and contemporary standard and compliant with legislation and regulations.
In consultation with the Health & Safety Systems Manager, partner effectively with Contractors, including participation in tendering/procurement processes, and Contractor Health and Safety onboarding.
Review of contractor Health & Safety performance, compliance including site observations and management audits and participation in contractor safety forums.
Assist the Health & Safety Systems Manager to drive effective communication strategies to ensure that safety messages are not just heard but fostered into open and honest safety conversations.
Partner with the Health and Safety Training team to ensure training and education of employees on health and safety policies and procedures including external stakeholders, new hires receive regular updates and refresher training on health and safety procedures.
Work closely with other Health & Safety Advisors in the team to co-ordinate, promote and implement health and safety initiatives, projects and programs in alignment with the overall Health & Safety Strategy.
Ensure continued compliance with all safety regulations in consultation with Health & Safety Lead and Health & Safety Systems Lead to maintain requirements of ISO45001 and ISO45003 certified Management System.
About You You enjoy a hands-on role working on safety systems, enjoy keeping up-to-date with safety legislation and translating that at an organisational level.
Demonstrated experience in a similar role with a proven track record of delivering positive outcomes.
Highly developed interpersonal skills including communication (verbal and written), consultation, and stakeholder engagement.
Tertiary qualifications in an occupational health and safety related discipline and relevant industry proven experience undertaking a similar role in a large and complex organisation.
A working knowledge and experience in improving safety management systems certified to ISO45001 and ISO45003.
Strong understanding of data analytics and ability to identify trends to improve health and safety performance.
Knowledge of change management principles (desirable).
Further qualifications in auditing, ISO 45001, or incident investigation/ ICAM would be an advantage.
