About the Role: Prison Industry Staff are responsible for industry training, work, and employment in the prison environment.
Some of your duties will include: As part of a team, working to ensure the operational aims of the MRC Industries are achieved, including possible commercial production internal targets and customer expectations, ordering and maintaining control of stock, materials, financial records, and providing an industry model-workplace training environment.
Effectively managing all work areas to ensure the safety and security of prisoners, staff, and any visitors, including appropriate levels of surveillance and interaction within the facility, and monitoring staff and prisoners for compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety and security procedures.
Working as part of a team in all aspects of prison industry operations, including prisoner training and assessment, case management, program and service knowledge and involvement, maintenance of professional boundaries, willingness to undertake personal skills development and training, and contribution to the prison and to the prison industry production procedures.
About You: As our ideal candidate, you will possess: The ability to accept changed priorities without undue discomfort while responding quickly to changes and comfortably working in collaboration with teams outside of your own organisation.
The ability to resolve issues through deep understanding or interpretation of existing guidelines and using initiative when said guidelines are not available.
Sound knowledge of OH&S requirements relevant to the trade area, and relevant legislative responsibilities related to employment supervision and training of industry workers.
Qualifications/Requirements: All candidates must have successfully completed or be willing to complete the Prison Officer pre-service training.
Have an appropriate trade qualification and/or experience that is related to the industries at the Metropolitan Remand Centre.
