This is a full-time position with an immediate start due to business growth. In this hands-on role, you will prepare and bake a variety of desserts and sweet goods for our six and eight-course Chef's Tasting menu, plus event canapés. You will also maintain the highest standards of food quality and hygiene and develop expertise in your assigned specialty.Your duties will include:Food Production Management: Overseeing the preparation and execution of cheese and pastry courses, ensuring that all dishes meet high restaurant standards, and managing food production to maximise quality and efficiency.Hygiene and Safety Compliance: Maintaining the highest levels of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen, ensuring all food safety regulations are adhered to, particularly regarding allergens and dietary requirements.Inventory Control and Ordering: Managing stock levels, conducting regular stock rotations, and ordering ingredients in line with monthly budgets, while reporting any shortages and wastage to the Executive Chef/Head Chef.Mentoring and Team Support: Monitoring and training junior kitchen staff members, providing creative input on new menus, and assisting the Head and Executive Chefs in planning and preparing desserts that cater to various dietary needs.This is a hands-on position requiring attention to detail and a positive work attitude. You may be required to work any of the seven days of the calendar week, including weekends and gazetted public holidays. A standard working day can consist of up to 12 working hours, within the hours of 07:00hrs and 00:00hrs.If you have strong culinary skills, excellent communication abilities, and a positive attitude, we encourage you to apply and join our dynamic team.QualificationsCertificate in Commercial Cookery / Pastry (preferred)Provide First Aid & CPR (preferred)Food Handling Safety Certificate (essential, or willing to obtain upon commencement)Knowledge of industry best practicesAbout You2+ years' experience in a similar Pastry Chef roleDemonstrated experience producing high-quality food unsupervised, with knowledge of all sectionsCan ensure a kitchen meets all compliance and regulations, including hygiene and food safety guidelinesAppropriate knowledge of ingredients, cooking methods and best practicesAbility to show initiative to take on more responsibilityAbility to control food production to maximise quality and efficiencyMonitor and train junior kitchen team, while supporting the Kitchen ManagementGood leadership skills, with a positive "can-do" attitudeDemonstrate excellent verbal communication skills, with high fluency in EnglishEntitlement to work in AustraliaA pre-employment medical and National Police Check may be required as part of this recruitment process.Are you ready to join us?
