Group General Counsel and General Secretary Partnering with the Group Chief Executive, this Executive role is crucial in helping Kinetic navigate legal complexities and make informed commercial decisions that align with the law across multiple jurisdictions, while supporting the company's strategic objectives. The role is responsible for providing expert legal and strategic business advice to Kinetic's senior stakeholders, including the Board of Directors. Key responsibilities Oversee all legal, regulatory, compliance, risk, and corporate governance affairs at the enterprise level, including mergers and acquisitions, divestment, company secretarial duties, insurance, and dispute resolution. Lead the design and implementation of legal strategies that deliver on business outcomes across various areas of law, including complex infrastructure contracts, safety, commercial, legislation and policy, regulation and enforcement, privacy and information access, and employment. Develop and implement the right risk profile to fit the diverse roles and responsibilities of Kinetic, ensuring brand and reputational risk is managed effectively. Provide expert advice on governance arrangements to ensure alignment with best practices and current legislative and non-legislative requirements. Perform the Company Secretary function as directed by the Board of Directors. Serve as a trusted business advisor, proactively engaging with the executive leadership team on strategic business issues and providing legal solutions that achieve business outcomes. Offer early intervention strategies for potentially complex, sensitive, and litigious matters, promoting positive dispute resolution strategies to maximize outcomes. Lead an in-house legal team focused on delivering client-centric service, providing technical know-how with a transformative impact on the business, and contributing to the strategic direction within relevant legal and regulatory frameworks. What you'll bring Bachelor of Law or Juris Doctor is required; post-graduate qualifications are desirable Current practising certificate valid in Australia A strong foundation in legal principles and knowledge across various areas of law, including corporate law, contract law, employment law, regulatory compliance and intellectual property. Commercial acumen, and the ability to understand Kinetic's business objectives and align legal strategies with overall business goals. The capacity to think strategically and provide legal advice that supports the long-term goals and objectives of Kinetic, and the ability to anticipate legal issues and provide proactive solutions. Proficiency in assessing and managing legal risks, including identifying potential legal challenges and developing strategies to mitigate or address them. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for conveying complex legal concepts in a clear and understandable manner. An understanding of financial principles and the ability to assess the financial implications of legal decisions and strategies. The ability to negotiate effectively and draft contracts that protect the company's interests while facilitating business transactions.
