Laboratory Officer

Burra Foods is a highly successful and growing Australian dairy processor that, for nearly three decades, has been producing and marketing premium dairy products to both global and domestic food markets.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our hard-working and friendly Quality team as a Laboratory Officer.
Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you will be responsible for day to day Quality functions.
About the role: Working on a rotating roster of 4 on 4 off (4 days on and 4 days off), it will be a requirement that you are able to work shifts of up to 12 hours, including weekdays, weekends and public holidays.
Quality functions such as sample preparation, equipment verification, environmental monitoring and testing of quality parameters.
Chemical/Physical functions - set up and perform daily testing of antibiotics and any one-off samples.
Verify equipment calibration.
Maintain cleanliness in Lab areas as well as maintaining environmental samples and swabs.
About you: Certificate III in Laboratory Practices microbiological or chemical (desirable, but not essential).
Attention to detail with a high level of compliance to standards.
Well organized with an ability to plan.
Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision and direction.
Good communication skills - with the capability of developing respect & co-operative relationships at all levels internally & externally.
Initiative - Plans ahead for upcoming problems or opportunities and takes appropriate action.
Competent in IT systems such as Word, Office and relevant equipment software.
