This role will specifically be working within the School of Medicine.
About the role: The Lecturer, Education-focused Academic will lead unit teaching teams in UG and/or PG programs to improve the student learning experience and outcomes.
The position will initiate, design and conduct productive, high-quality, scholarship and creative activities to enhance student experience and teaching learning outcomes in their discipline area.
As a Lecturer in Optometry, Education-focused, you will: Lead unit teaching teams and work collaboratively with other unit teaching teams in the course to develop effective unit curricula and learning resources.
Assist in applying industry, clinical and/or research practice into student learning experiences, success, engagement and resources.
Adopt innovation in curriculum design at the unit level and deliver learner-centric, research-informed teaching practices across different levels / modes of delivery.
Design collaborative learning opportunities at the unit level.
Support diverse learners by designing accessible and inclusive unit material and practices.
Develop effective assessment tasks and rubrics at unit level.
Provide clear assessment criteria and timely feedback to learners to demonstrate learning outcomes.
This position is suited to a person with an emerging record and passion for learning and teaching.
To be successful, you'll have: Ph D in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience is preferred but not essential Optometry qualification (eg BOptom, MOptom) – Therapeutic endorsement essential Associate Fellow of Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) or Fellowship of Higher Education Academy (FHEA) - desirable but not essential Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning.
Evidence of contribution to the development, delivery and evaluation of innovative teaching and learning strategies, including student assessment Demonstrated experience in leading and delivering effective scholarly learning and teaching to improve student success and engagement in postgraduate or undergraduate programs Demonstrated experience with student assessment and feedback Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team in a coordinated teaching environment Ability to deliver effective teaching practices to improve student success and engagement.
