0.8 FTE Part-time Opportunity (part-time positions may be considered) 4-5 Years Fixed Term Contract for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Geriatric Medicine Level B/C + 17% superannuation + Full Clinical Loading About the opportunity We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Geriatric Medicine to contribute to the teaching and research at Sydney Medical School.
At the Northern Clinical School and Kolling Institute, we have brought together a large, talented team driven by a common goal, to help diagnose, prevent and treat disease, and improve the care our community receives.
Our researchers are in a strong position, backed by the resources and expertise of our joint venture partners, the University of Sydney and the Northern Sydney Local Health District.
Located alongside Royal North Shore Hospital, our teams incorporate scientific breakthroughs into clinical practice, directly improving patient care and the health of our community.
We aim to build capacity in geriatric medicine research and education to improve the healthcare of the ageing population, particularly of people living with frailty or with dementia.
Lecturer: Your key responsibilities will be to: Conduct original research independently or as part of a team, focusing on publication, conference presentations and securing research funding.
Engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences which meet the university's expectations and standards for education.
Develop innovative teaching approaches and evaluate teaching and learning experiences which meet the university's expectations and standards for education.
Coordinate, develop and continually improve curricula, programs and resources to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
Contribute to a positive workplace culture in which diversity of thought, contribution, collaboration, excellence and achieving outcomes are valued and enabled.
Undertake other duties and contribute to projects appropriate within the classification level as required.
Senior Lecturer: Your key responsibilities will be to: Build and maintain a reputation for academic excellence through independent and innovative contributions to research and education, expanding knowledge and practice in the discipline.
Establish collaborations and partnerships to enhance the research profile and reputation of the university.
Coordinate and engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences which meet the university's expectations and standards for education, including supervising higher degree research students to successful completions.
Coordinate, develop and continually improve curricula, programs and resources to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
Coordinate activities of academic staff and provide training and mentorship to less experienced lecturers.
Provide leadership that has a significant impact on teaching, innovation, curriculum development, research training and supervision within the school or faculty.
Contribute to a positive workplace culture in which diversity of thought, contribution, collaboration, excellence and achieving outcomes are valued and enabled.
Understand and contribute to furthering the university and faculty/school strategic agenda.
Engage in community and alumni outreach, contribute expertise to public debates, and play a significant role in scholarly, research, or professional activities relevant to area of expertise.
Establish partnerships, collaborations and engage in translational research for impactful outcomes in research, development, commercialisation, and policy improvement.
About you: Lecturer: Have a Ph D or near completion of Ph D in a field relevant to Geriatric Medicine.
AHPRA registered as a specialist with FRACP-recognised qualification as a geriatrician.
Proven ability, commitment and passion for engaging in scholarly activities to inform innovative pedagogical practice.
Demonstrated capacity to stimulate, actively engage and educate an audience using a range of media.
Deep and broad experience in teaching and learning in a tertiary environment, as evidenced by participation in team teaching within an established program and experience in teaching in a variety of settings.
Be on a trajectory towards leadership in educational design and delivery.
Demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives.
Developing network of relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders.
Senior Lecturer: Have a Ph D in a field relevant to Geriatric Medicine.
AHPRA registered as a specialist with FRACP-recognised qualification as a geriatrician.
Have experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives particularly within geriatric medicine, and evidence of excellence in teaching.
Have a sustained record of excellence in teaching and learning design and practice in Specialty of Geriatric Medicine, as shown by successful student outcomes, demonstrated impact on student learning, recognition through awards/prizes and innovation.
Have an emerging national reputation and research track record including publications in Geriatric Medicine.
Have a network of established relationships with key academic and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders that can be leveraged to enhance the standing of the Specialty, School/Faculty and University.
