About the Role Interested in a purpose-driven role at a start-up? We're looking to hire an in-house Legal Counsel.
As a key contributor in the Legal team you will: add value by helping all areas of the business to make commercial decisions in the best interests of Amber be approachable and supportive in working with other teams to shape projects that drive Amber forward be a trusted partner in helping people at Amber achieve their goals.
Legal Counsel Responsibilities Provide practical legal advice on a variety of issues including consumer protection, data privacy and security, and guidance on operational processes to make sure they are compliant with energy laws and regulations Work with our technology and marketing teams to deliver new products and initiatives that help shift Australia to 100% renewable energy Draft and review commercial contracts and legal documents with 3rd parties and our customers Brief external counsel when necessary Respond to requests from regulators and provide feedback on regulations designed for a flexible, 2-way energy grid, along with internal guidance to operationalise new rules Prepare and deliver training materials to up-skill the Amber team Help drive Legal team efficiencies and improvements over time The work of Amber Legal is varied and changing as the business evolves so these are just some things you can expect to work on.
Key Requirements Bachelor of Laws and admitted to practice within an Australian jurisdiction 1-3+ years prior experience as a practising lawyer, or experience in a legal capacity, in one or more of the following fields: energy, regulatory, commercial, corporate, technology A good understanding of the regulatory framework applicable to electricity retailers across the National Electricity Market, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Willing to engage critically with legal and commercial risks and opportunities Able to work independently and as part of a team At Amber, we want to hire self-starters who are eager to learn and are comfortable working in a constantly changing environment.

$85,000 - $95,000 a year Range is quoted excluding superannuation.
All roles at Amber also include employee stock options.
